We have a list of places we’re considering for our ‘forever’ place, once we’re done travelling. Seattle. Hobart. Now, Merimbula is now on that short list. We were both completely taken by this quaint community. We write about why we loved it and why it fits completely with my long-term dream of our ‘forever home’.
We depart from Sydney in March (2017) for a 10 month road trip within Australia. Now, Australia is a damn big country – and obvious statement – so we’re focusing on the places that ignite us. We’re excited, aren’t you?! Here’s our plan…
We found ourselves spending the end of March and part of April (2017) housesitting near Bowral, in the Southern Highlands. We were looking after a home that was truly amazing and, after convalescing after a bout of the flu (or pneumonia in my case), we explored the areas. It was stunning. Truly gorgeous with green, rolling hills, cafés on offer everywhere … and then I started to feel old.
Our trip to Cairns was to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. There would be no sponsored experiences, or opportunities. It would be a time to go with the flow and enjoy our surroundings.
Our Wandadian stop was an AirBnb about 15 mins west of the coast. The perfect spot to get some work done and sort out our crap!
While travelling indefinitely, we’re discovering AirBnbs to be invaluable. Not only do they provide space to spread out, constant WiFi and washing facilities, but some offer truly unique stays. For our Aussie 10 month road trip, we’re finding them to be cheaper than holiday parks and hotels! This is definitely the way to go!
