May 22, 2018 – Biduedo to Samos, Spain. Camino de Santiago.
With an early start this morning, I was rewarded with fog-covered valleys which made for some spectacular views, but I also had the opportunity to watch a calf being born, then taking its first steps. Magic.
Truly, nature at it’s best.
Once we turned off toward Samos, where we are on an alternative route tonight, the path quickly went from the road to one of the most picturesque sections yet. The trail was stuff fairytales are created from. It felt like the trees held their own stories. I took so many photos today it’ll be hard to choose from them!
The intention was to stay in the monastery that dominates this village.
One look at the 40 bunk beds crammed in the unventilated room, with nothing but upper bunks left, and no ladders to climb up to them, we turned and found the nearest Albergue with private rooms.
Luckily one across the street was not only available but has beautiful views and amazing hosts. It’s like it was meant to be.
Tonight Helen, the friend we made at ‘Casa Susi’ a few nights ago joined us for dinner. Great food, great company, great stories… I love this part if the Camino.
