May 18th, 2018. El Acebo, Spain. Camino de Santiago.
A rest day was needed and I listened to whatever my body needed today. It screamed sleep! When I wasn’t sleeping, I was reading and some planning. I feel better for it.
I would have taken more photos but there’s no way for me to take the photos of the inside of my eyelids. And I don’t think you want to see photos of my laundry on the line outside. =-)
To my surprise, the Kiwi and Irish women I met on Day 25 in Castrojeriz showed up today. I was grabbing a coffee in the bar when low and behold, there was Agnes, one of the kiwis, sitting in the corner. We sat and caught up a bit and then made plans to catch a taxi onwards together tomorrow. They weren’t keen to walk down the mountain (it’s pretty treacherous apparently and they’ve been having physical woes of their own) and also wasn’t keen to deal with the lavender, but decided it best to skip forward as well.
It’s nice to see familiar faces again.
I feel better in myself today both physically, mentally and spiritually. This is not an easy journey but I’m grateful to be doing it. And I’m grateful too for the encouraging words and support I’ve received online.
I’m lucky to have found this Albergue. It’s like a swish hotel. The rooms are spacious, the shower amazing. There are washing machines to get laundry done, a bar that’s open for drinks and food all day and restaurant isn’t too bad either for brekky and dinner. The best part though, are the views of Ponferrada below.
Where I Stayed: Albergue La Casa Del Peregrino
Would I Recommend it? Oh my – YES! One of the best places I stayed on the Camino.
