Day 13 of the Camino Wander – A Much Needed Rest Day in Logroño

April 27th, 2018. Logroño, Spain. Camino de Santiago.

A rest day today. My body woke ready for a predawn walk and I told it to go back to sleep, to rest. Thankfully it complied.

Mentally I feel great. I got some videos updated to the Patreon site. I ran some errands for resupplies (band-aids, tissues etc..). I did some laundry. This is what my life has come down too right now. LOL!!

Physically, I feel rested and ready to continue on tomorrow. How far I don’t know. We’ll see how I go (and what time I get going – it’s meant to be cooler tomorrow and cloudy/drizzly).

I spent some time wandering today. I stopped at the cathedral and after seeing the reputed, yet hard-to-find Michelangelo, I sat for a moment to take in the atmosphere.

A young boy, no older than 8 came in, set up a music stand and within minutes was playing Ave Maria on the saxophone. What a surprise. It was not perfect, of course, but it was beautiful and fitting in this environment. And the acoustics!! Wow. Tears streamed down my face. Tears I did not even know were flowing until I could feel them on my cheeks.  It was that powerful of a moment. People clapped and I think the young boy was as taken with the applause, as we were for giving us this moment.

I walked outside, wandered a bit and my new friends Sharon and Jerry walked around the corner. I thought they’d continued on, down the trail, so it was a lovely surprise. So, we did as new friends do: shared a couple of bottles of wine, enjoyed lovely food and best of all, great conversation.

Unless you open your heart, your mind and your soul, you don’t know what will bring you pure joy!  Today it was in abundance!
