We’re always talking about how important it is to pursue your dreams while you have the opportunity to do so in this short life. The truth is, without your support, we wouldn’t be here pursuing OUR dream life.
I was actually reluctant to put this post together. But, the question we’re always asked is: “How do you make a living as a travel blogger?”
While I’d like to say that I spend my days writing whenever inspiration hits, the reality is much different.
We actually spend most of our time working on the backend. We focus on researching, pitching to companies, marketing, and freelancing to name a few. In fact, it’s necessary to have number of income streams, or a pipeline. Today, I’m going to share one of those streams with you (more to come on the rest later.)
One way we make a living is through Affiliate sales. That means that whenever you use the links we provide in our posts, on this page for example, we gain a small (and believe me, it’s small) commission on the backend. The more purchase using the links we provide, the more we earn. The more we earn, the longer we can continue to do this!
Best of all, there is no cost to you.
Every affiliate link we use in a post is disclosed. We are legally obligated to do so (in some countries), but I think it’s a bit of a scam if we don’t let you know we’re doing it. For us, we really want to put forth only the best. The tried and true. So, we decided that we wanted to be affiliates only with brands we have used and highly recommend, OR brands we have heard only great things about. (Although those items are few and we eventually try them for ourselves).
This post is meant to share with you the brands we are affiliated with and provide you with the links we directly support.
If you are planning travels, buying gear, books or apps, we have some great brands we work with. We’d appreciate it immensely if you would use these links. It would not only help us financially, but in turn, we can continue providing this service to you.
Here are the current Affiliate links we’re associated with. Please feel free to share them!
FLIGHTS & ACCOMMODATION
Who haven’t used Expedia to book their travels? Expedia have provided us with budget-friendly options every time I’ve researched a getaway. I can’t tell you how many trips we’ve booked using Expedia. (TONS!)
We’re so proud to be affiliates for Expedia. They are a trusted format with experienced customer service behind them. And they’ve saved our asses quite a few times too!
We hope you use this link to book YOUR next trip away.
We have used Booking.com for so many trips.
From Santa Fe in the United States, to the Great Ocean Road in Australia.
We’ve always found them easy to use and trouble-free. Better yet, they are always honest in their accommodation representations.
If you haven’t tried them yet, maybe now is the time?
Have you have tried AirBnb?! It’s awesome!
We’ve used it a few times now and been delighted every time. More often than not, we’ve even found them cheaper than hotels. With that, you get a full house/apartment to use with all the amenities and less than you would for a hotel room. And when you’re a full time traveller or even someone traveller for more than a week, the use of a washing machine & dryer is priceless!
Need more incentive to try AirBnb? Here’s a credit for your first stay. Simply click on the link and the credit is yours to use for your first AirBnb experience.
Who doesn’t love TripAdvisor?!
We’ve been using this resource for years. We’ve found great bargains and hidden gems each and every time we’ve used it. From hotels, to restaurants, to interesting things to see/do along the way. I love TripAdvisor.
It’s invaluable when travelling.
PLUS: Since we’ve been contributing ourselves over the years, we’ve earn ourselves a Top Contributor badge.
